Feryn Karahkwiiohhstha King, is an North American Indigenous (Mohawk) artist, member of the Wolf Clan in Akwesasne, Quebec. Her name in the Kani'ekeha Language means ''She Makes the Moon Beautiful,'' or ''Bright Moon.''
She is a professional international hoop dancer, cultural instructor, acrobatic performer in Aerial Lyra, and a visual artist. Also a lover of health and fitness!
She has travelled abroad all across Canada, some parts in the United States, and overseas in Europe sharing her passion of dance.
At a very young age she took an interest in learning traditional Pow wow dances and would dance in the shadows where no one was watching and self taught herself most of the dances. She did her first competition of Smoke Dance, (known to be the Fastest Two legged dance, danced by the Haudenosaunee People) at the Akwesasne Pow wow. Later, she jumped into Fancy Shawl and Jingle Dress like her sisters before her- whom were her first inspiration for pow wow dancing.
At 14, she was first introduced hoop dancing by the beautiful dancer Beany John, who is Taino and Cree from Kehewin, Alberta.
At the age of 15, Feryn started late in training of Modern, Contemporary and Expression Movement and Ballet in high school at Cornwall Collegiate & Vocational School located in Cornwall ON, till she graduated in 2012. In 2015, she attended Centennial Colleges 2 year Dance Performance Program where she had further trained professionally in a variety of dance styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip hop etc. Researching and learning the history behind the dances and graduated with a dance diploma in 2017.
After Feryn graduated, she had danced at showcases like Classiqu'Arts SDG and many community events. She became a cultural instructor for the three district schools in her community and outside to do instruct hoop workshops.
In 2017, she performed works with company owner Santee Smith of Kahawi Dance Theatre and danced at the North American Indigenous Games with Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, and the following year the INDISPIRE awards as a Sky Dancer in 2018.
Feryn was then was recruited by global industry Cirque Du Soleils : TOTEM group, where she had the chance to tour five major cities in Europe from 2018-2020.
